The United States has emerged as the leading source of manga piracy, comprising 13% of all website visits dedicated to such activity. This surpasses other nations, including Japan, historically associated with manga consumption.

Major Takedowns
In a significant turn of events, two of the world’s largest manga piracy platforms have unexpectedly ceased operations, adding to the mounting pressure on illegal online content distribution. Last month, a sweeping crackdown saw the abrupt takedown of over 200 websites, the majority of which were found to be engaged in copyright infringement, as reported by TorrentFreak.
Among these illicit platforms were two prominent manga piracy giants: “manganelo.tv” and “mangakakalot.tv” According to data from Similarweb, a renowned analytics firm specializing in website traffic analysis, “manganelo.tv” recorded more than 10.8 million visitors in January 2024, while “ww7.mangakakalot.tv” boasted twice that number, with a staggering 20.3 million visits.
